This pursuit may start as, or perpetually be, a part-time endeavor. But it’s more than a hobby. Being a Nerd for a Living is about dedicating your career to the pursuit and realization of your passions. To build your livelihood around industries and products that you are personally connected to, rather than toiling away in mundane jobs that offer little personal fulfillment.
Visit our Services page for more info, and to contact us regarding availability and rates.
Nerd For a Living has occasional internship opportunities for college students in the St. Louis metro area. Please see our Services page for more information.
Before contacting us, read through the content of our site to learn about our topics and style of delivery. Our motto is “aspirational and actionable” – meaning useful tools and information for the nerd with serious desire to create a career in these industries. We speak in the vernacular of the geek world, filtering our info through the humor and cultural identify of our audience, but the content is still serious and business-oriented.
To be considered, you must have a body of work available online – a personal blog or website, and/or articles published on other company sites. Send us links to two examples of your writing. Make sure they are your best work that relates to the world of nerd business and careers. Tell us specific topics and genres/industries you’d like to cover in your writing. You may also include links to Dropbox or Google Docs/Drive for articles you have not yet published. Use our Contact page to get in touch. Please allow 3-5 business days for response.
Photographers: do you often attend local pop culture conventions or events? Are you interested in capturing more than the typical cosplayer photos and crowd shots? We are looking for photographers who will document the business side of cons and expos, focused on the products, creators, and business ventures thriving on the convention circuit and at local venues and events. Use our Contact page to send us your location, photo opportunities and links to your portfolio and published work.
We will consider product reviews from small business and independent creators, in conjunction with stories that highlight the nerdy business or entrepreneur.
We do not provide story-related reviews of books, comics, films & television, web series, etc – though we may be interested in talking with the creators and production companies themselves.
Please note: where applicable, we only accept physical product for review. Digital downloads in lieu of physical items will not be considered.
Please use our Contact page to reach out to us for additional information.
Please note that while we will consider all interview submissions, not everyone will meet our specific criteria for selection. Please allow 3-5 business days for response.
