C2E2, Chicago’s massive Comic-Con and Entertainment Expo, returns April 25th-27th. Nerd For A Living will be presenting two panels at the show: Friday – How to be a Nerd for a Living: Careers within Nerd Culture for Everyone; Saturday – Turning Your Art Into an Online Business: Branding & Marketing for Creators.
The Wizard World convention tour hits St. Louis this April 4th-6th, and Nerd For A Living will be presenting two panels at the show. Each panel will be moderated by N4AL’s Wendy Buske.
The comic book industry exists largely in a vacuum, playing by our own rules – and fast and loose even with those. Among them: the “blind eye” that publishers turn towards Artist Alley’s bustling commerce of non-licensed trademark exploitation. The dollars are generally too small, the usage too benevolent, to raise corporate eyebrows. Tradition says, as long as we avoid the rampant bootlegging of the hucksters, the Alley is healthy for our industry and its fans. Now, though, the game may be changing.
For an exhibitor looking to promote a brand, product or service, though, the last thing you want is to blend into the (very colorful) scenery at San Diego Comic Con or any other convention or trade show. This is your opportunity to make an impact if you’re not afraid to take chances. “Go big or go home.”
We just returned from Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con 2013, where we presented a panel on marketing your brand. While we were there, we navigated the massive convention floors to check out merch and artist displays. Check out our photo gallery of awesome retailer and artist alley booth designs.
